Senior Electronic Technician

The primary purpose of the Senior Electronic Technician position is to install, repair, program and maintain the card access, closed-circuit television, and other electronic security systems.

The ideal candidate has basic experience working with electronic security systems like access control, CCTV, and alarms. They can perform routine maintenance, fix issues, install equipment, and complete work orders.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

* Performs routine and preventative maintenance on systems including electronic access systems, central clocks, power supplies and alarm systems.
* Responds to inadvertent alarms and urgent situations.
* Inspects test equipment for safe and proper operations.
* Develops modifications for improvement of existing equipment.
* Designs, plans, assigns and inspects work of specialized electrical and mechanical apparatus.
* Completes work orders related to the maintenance of electronic security systems.
* Installs access control, CCTV, and other security-related devices.
* Provides training and guidance to electronic technicians.
* Assists in overall system preventive maintenance and documentation.
* Assists UTPD project managers with on-going security related projects.

Other duties to include, but not limited to, emergency recall and/or may be required to remain on-site or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus. Local or long-distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally.

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred: College course work in electronics or equivalent vocational school training.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years journey level experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of modern electronic equipment.
Preferred: Experience with electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, and alarms with the ability to perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and install equipment.
