Asset Control Technician

The Asset Control Technician supports the General Accounting - Asset Control department in coordinating Surplus Warehouse Operations. This area oversees the movement, storage, and proper handling of surplus property, including medical devices, IT equipment, and materials eligible for recycling. As an essential function within institutional operations, the Asset Control Technician ensures safe, compliant, and efficient asset management processes.

The ideal candidate for the Asset Control Technician role brings experience in asset management, warehouse operations, or materials handling, along with knowledge of compliance or safety review processes. Preferred qualifications would include forklift and pallet jack experience and some college.

Minimum $19.71 - Midpoint $24.52 - Maximum $29.33
The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities

Surplus Asset Management

• Manage surplus property through online internal web links.
• Assist with auction removal processes to ensure correct distribution of assets.
• Prepare auction lots and ensure property is free of protected health information and hazards.
• Support compliance with Federal, State, and UT System rules for surplus disposal.

Equipment Flow & Warehouse Operations

• Maintain an orderly flow of surplus property throughout warehouse operations.
• Manage lost and found property received from UTPD.
• Organize equipment for reuse programs.

Receiving & Inspection

• Check shipments against bills of lading for accuracy.
• Inspect items for damage and report discrepancies.
• Match packing slips to correct boxes and prepare items for proper routing.
• Market surplus property for internal reuse opportunities.

Laboratory Equipment Compliance

• Review lab equipment for Safety Seal program compliance.
• Report discrepancies to Environmental Health & Safety.

Other Duties

• Perform additional tasks as required to support Surplus Warehouse Operations.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred: Associate's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Required: 3 years Relevant work experience.
• Preferred: 1 year Relevant experience required, with Associate's degree.
• Preferred: Forklift and pallet jack experience a plus.
