Research Data Specialist - Investigational Cancer Therapeutics (Database)

The primary purpose of the Research Data Specialist position is to: manage effort and salary, reconcile industry sponsored financial data, provide Principal investigator(s) Statement of Operation report, provide recommendation on financial planning, review institutional Epic data when invoicing to sponsors, and audit financial accountants when needed. Perform special assignments as required and prepares any financial, audit, or cost report for departmental and institutional use.

KEY FUNCTIONS

· Chimera Data Mapping and Quality Management (55%)

o Perform comprehensive mapping of data and system names across diverse electronic data capture (EDC) systems to ensure seamless integration and consistency.

o Validate and verify data accuracy to maintain high-quality standards across datasets.

o Collaborate with research data teams to design and set up new studies, including developing workflows and providing end-user training.

o Create and execute both simple and complex queries using Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract data for quality assurance and reporting purposes.

· Database Development and Reporting (30%)

o Actively participate in innovative research projects aimed at revolutionizing cancer therapy by integrating germline, molecular, and genetic information with disease-specific biology for personalized treatment approaches.

o Engage in solving complex problems, formulating and testing hypotheses, and performing advanced analyses to transform novel data into actionable insights.

o Conduct in-depth tests to evaluate and determine optimal systems for accessing, querying, and comparing cross-platform datasets.

o Provide technical support to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of research data across various platforms.

· Departmental Support, Education, and Training (10%)

o Partner with departmental finance to design, implement, and maintain tools that streamline research billing and improve operational efficiency.

o Support the daily operations of multiple information technology projects within the ICT department, as well as projects supporting CCTT and CTRC clinical operations.

o Develop and deliver tailored IT training sessions and educational resources to enhance the technological proficiency of ICT faculty and staff.

· Other duties as assigned (5%)

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years research study experience or no experience with preferred degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience.

Preferred: Database management experience.
