KEY FUNCTIONS
Manage day-to-day operations of the Speech Pathology and Audiology Research Program and Patient-Reported Outcomes/Function (PROF) Section of Oropharynx Program
• Serve as a primary data liaison with PROF Steering Committee and other Oropharynx Program Cores, particularly for progress reporting and data sharing (Clinical Database and Biorepository).
• Manage data analysis and reporting for the Speech Pathology and Audiology Research Program PROF and associated protocol research.
• Provide oversight, training, and delegation of duties for staff and trainees for data collection and management procedures.
• Provide oversight of Investigator Initiated Trial integration for the Speech Pathology and Audiology Research Program , PROF registry.
• Develop and implement processes to avoid duplication of requests of data and PRO surveys from PROF database and other trials on which a patient is enrolled.
• Coordinate PROF section meetings with Project Lead and research team to review project status.
• Develop, maintain, and oversee standard operating procedures for PROF activities and related protocols.
• Provide oversight and management of PROF data sharing.
• Develop meeting agendas and provide relevant reports to support investigator's research oversight.
Design, implement, monitor, and report on clinical research project status and database migration ensuring on-time performance • Interfaces closely with clinical staff, faculty, and research personnel in the Section of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck team to ensure accurate and timely capture of subject information in various research data system applications.
• Attends weekly Head & Neck Planning Conferences when requested. Attends Section and Departmental Staff Meetings when requested.
• Communicate recommendations regarding protocol inconsistencies and requirements.
• Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures related to conduct of clinical trials as delineated in the department training manual and presented at weekly training meetings.
Data Management, Analysis, quality assurance, and reporting of clinical research information
• Perform database development, maintenance, database migration, updates, and optimization.
• Conduct complex queries and database reports.
• Perform quality assurance on assigned databases including benchmark tracking.
• Participate in departmental clinical research quality assurance initiatives.
• Organize digital media (e.g., modified barium swallow studies) transfer to project SLP for analysis
• Participate in preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, grants, and lecture presentations with Project Lead/PI and faculty in the Section of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
• Complete literature reviews and summary of selected topics for discussion and presentation at section meetings and seminars.
• Conduct data analysis to support research objectives, leveraging statistical methods to evaluate and interpret results
Research education and training
• Train and/or orient data coordination staff to the department and to clinical research procedures/processes. Serve as a resource for research personnel regarding assigned protocols and data compliance information.
• Coordinates maintenance of Human Subjects records
• Communicate with the PI, research nurse and others regarding upcoming deadlines, research and protocol meetings, and other pertinent information.
Administrative research functions • Provide regulatory support for Continuing Reviews, protocol submissions, protocol revisions, and other required reports in a timely manner.
• Assist PI and supervisor with progress reporting for the Speech Pathology and Audiology Research Programs and PROF Core.
• Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and work flow processes to ensure project efficiency and effectiveness.
• Coordinates, conducts, and ensures data collection including chart review, PRO questionnaire administration, interview, and examination, as well as informed consent
• Coordinate and/or schedule MBS/clinic examinations and follow up appointments.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree Required
Education Preferred: Master's Degree Preferred
Experience Required: Two years Research study experience required. No experience with preferred degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience.
Experience Preferred: Advanced data management skills
