Cook II - Dining Services

The Cook II position on the Dining Services team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center produces quality food and beverages for patients, guests and visitors. Production may be in quantity or cooked-to-order. Maintain quality and freshness of all food served in Patient Room Service & Dining Services. Follow standard practices, departmental policies and procedures and comply with regulatory requirements.

Must be available to work various shifts during hours of operation, with no weekends and no holidays required. The hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 6am to 6pm.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and two years commercial cooking experience in a high-volume food service environment or equivalent culinary education.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $17.00 - Midpoint $20.04 - Maximum $23.08

Dining Services offers eight unique dining venues spread across the Texas Medical Center, an exceptional on-sight catering department, and two coffee bars located in The Woodlands and West Houston. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

Productivity: Completes tasks as scheduled. Is present and on time for all assigned meetings. Trains FSWs, Sr FSWs, and Cooks I. Accurately reviews all computer-generated information and timely reports errors to the appropriate supervisor.

Safety & Sanitation: Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area daily. Safely operates equipment. Makes daily reports of problems with spoiled or poor quality food items to the appropriate supervisor.

Recipe Compliance: Prepares assigned food items from standardized recipes 2/100% accuracy. Issues food items to designated areas. Checks daily with supervisor to determine distribution of leftover food according and accurately records all product transactions. Makes daily checks of stored food items, utilizing FIFO. Accurately prepares assigned food items in bulk.

May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate. Cross training may also involve shift changes.

EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years commercial cooking experience in a high volume food service environment.

CERTIFICATION:
Must obtain a current Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry into job.
