Organize and perform research activities.
• Organize, coordinate and/or participate in translational and clinical research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI).
• Work with the PI and her mentees on projects in the areas of organoids/patient-derived xenografts drug-screening, biomarker development, and head and neck cancer biology. Knowledge on basic statistics, computational biology analysis and high-throughput data would be ideal.
• Provide laboratory services under supervision of the Principal Investigator, particularly on translational aspects of clinical protocols.
• Assist with grant and manuscript writing. Draft progress reports timely for PI review and submit on behalf of the PI.
• Coordinate intake/transfer of patient samples related to projects.
• Organize, coordinate and/or participate in translational and clinical research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
• Provide supervision assistance of lab technicians, post-doc and/or research assistant/scientist working with the PI.
• Participates in strategic planning committees and program retreats.

PI research program management
• Oversees research initiatives associated with proposed and funded projects focusing on milestone development, effective program planning, implementation & evaluation.
• Ensures general project administration including all technical, business, administrative and operational aspects are executed. Develops and reviews research project schedules and work plans to support the long- and short-range goals associated with scientific research activities.
• Identifies internal and external funding opportunities to enhance research portfolio.
• Draft and/or performs critical review of submitted materials for research funding applications, progress reports, and other related communications. Copy-edit or rewrite as necessary to ensure that the information collected is accurate, reflects the requested information, and is provided in accordance with specified guidelines and policies (institutional, federal, and industry).
• Develops standardized procedures across project work volume/workflow. For example, establishes procedures and work process for reviewing scientific manuscripts. Identifies and ensures working timelines are developed and met, assembles reviewers, oversees reviewer comments, and ensures timely submission.
• Ensures specific goals and objectives are obtained from study partners. Evaluates research data and develops and writes scientific reports.
• Monitors and reviews progress of multiple research projects and reviews research activities. Ensures academic personnel have designated meeting time with the PI and meet/exceed mentoring plans.
• Reviews contracts for PI's speaking engagements and manages finances and budgets within institution allocations.
• Reviews and informs on program accounts, provides relevant information on current and planned personnel as well as related laboratory expenses.
• Drafts scientific project proposals for submission to funding agencies. Organizes scientific planning meetings with collaborators/contributors to draft study aims, methods etc.
• Prepare power point presentations, scientific reports, support letters, and perform submission on behalf of the PI.

Maintain good, detailed records and analyze data.
• Maintain up-to-date, organized records of research being performed.
• Compile, write, and submit interim and final project results to supervisor.
• Present findings of research projects to professional groups.

Other duties as assigned

Education Required - Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Education preferred: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field. Six years experience in scientific or experimental research to include two years as a project manager. With preferred degree, four years scientific or experimental research experience to include one year as a project manager.
