The Research Assistant II applies knowledge, technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, and carry out research projects. Impacts cancer research efforts throughout the institution.
*This is a Part- Time Benefits Eligible position working 20 hours a week.*
Key Functions
· Assists with basic laboratory techniques and in preparation of media solutions, buffers and reagents.
· Generate ongoing protocols for the work being done, and maintain and update the protocols
· Functions, under supervision, in the design and initiation of research experiments. These experiments include, but are not limited to, assessment of tumorigenesis in in vitro and in vivo systems (cell culture and in mice) and behavior in mice, performing breeding and genotyping in mice, tracking tumor phenotypes and behavior patterns following protocols using Western blotting, RT-PCR, histologic analyses including immunohistochemistry, gene expression, and other approaches.
· Assists in training and research work activity for assigned laboratory and research personnel.
· Supervises general laboratory management including the use of laboratory equipment and implements safety procedures.
· Maintain active lab notes with duties and assignments performed
· Inventory the chemical room, -20C and -80C freezers as well as the 4C fridge to maintain current records of reagents
· Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED:
Education: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.
Experience: No experience required with preferred degree

Experience: Previous lab experience.
