Postdoctoral Fellow - Genetics - McAllister Lab

Dr. Florencia McAllister is recruiting a PhD or MD/PhD trained scientist to conduct research to develop microbial-based tools for tumor targeting therapies poised for translation into phase 0 trials. Projects in the lab involve the use of genetically engineered mouse models of pancreatic cancer as well as advanced immunological, imaging, and sequencing methodologies to help us interrogate the role of the crosstalk of microbes with various cellular compartments inside the tumors. The candidate must have a strong background and experience in synthetic biology, bacterial engineering, tumor immunology and use of preclinical mouse models. However, strong motivation to expand their skills and a strong publication record may substitute for specific experience. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to conduct independent research, to present their results at departmental and national meetings, and to prepare manuscripts for publication.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Conduct original work in the interplay between Immunology and Microbes in Cancer.

Use several types of technologies including synthetic biology, bacterial engineering, CAR-T cells, CRISPR-Cas9 systems and immune screening platforms.

Develop microbial-based cancer therapies and study their potential for translation into Phase 0 trials.
