Postdoc Fellow - Cancer Biology - Dr. Leo Lei Lab

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Cancer Biology under the direct supervision of Dr. Leo Lei. Dr. Lei's laboratory is jointly supported by the Departments of Head and Neck Surgery and Cancer Biology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. We are interested in dissecting the oncogenic and metabolic pathways that dampen cancer immunogenicity.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The candidate will train in cancer research using interdisciplinary research methods combining molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and analytical chemistry (metabolomics), to study metabolic roles in diseases and to explore new potential clinical approaches in different metabolic disorders and cancer. Under Dr. Lei's supervision, the successful candidate will conduct lab-based research focused on examining the molecular mechanism regulating the plasticity of myeloid cell response to immune stimulation and identify central factors regulating the tumor immune microenvironment. We integrate a rich repertoire of technologies, including biochemistry, flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, single-cell immune profiling, spatial transcriptomics, and transgenic modeling, to vet the mechanisms underpinning innate immune tolerance of cancers. The candidate will participate in departmental academic activities and will present at research meetings locally, nationally, and internationally. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to submit research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and to assist future grant applications.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidate should hold a recent PhD (including PhD candidates) or equivalent doctorate degree with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, and biochemistry or related field. Candidates with a background in Cancer Biology, Immunology, Metabolism, or Computational Biology are strongly encouraged to apply. Proven track record of publications and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
