Food Service Worker - FNS Sanitation

The Food Service Worker supports daily food service operations within FNS Sanitation, contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues. The Food Service Worker plays an important role in food preparation, sanitation, and customer service while following established procedures and standards.

The Food Service Worker may be assigned to different shifts as operational needs change.

The Food Service Worker role is essential to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Through consistent performance and flexibility, the Food Service Worker helps ensure uninterrupted service delivery in support of patient care.

The ideal candidate demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to cleanliness and customer service, with the ability to follow written instructions and work effectively in a team environment. Prior experience in food service or sanitation is beneficial but not required, provided the individual can meet training and safety expectations.

Schedule:
Hours vary with rotating weekdays and holidays. Must be available to work as early as 7:00 a.m. and as late as 8:30 p.m.

What We're Looking For:
A previous fast-food experience would be a plus.
A positive attitude, strong time management skills, and commitment to teamwork.
Texas Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Service
• Perform simple food preparation by following established written recipes
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues

Surface Cleaning and Sanitation
• Clean and sanitize surfaces including floors, drains, and walls
• Follow established cleaning and sanitizing procedures

Equipment and Smallware Cleaning
• Clean and sanitize equipment and smallware using approved procedures
• Safely handle chemicals and operate a three-compartment sink
• Properly store all equipment, chemicals, and utensils

Trash and Waste Disposal
• Operate dish and pot washing machines according to proper procedures
• Dispose of trash and operate trash compactors following established guidelines

Operational Support
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Move to new locations or shifts as operational needs dictate
• Participate in cross-training, which may include shift changes

Required: None

Successful completion of the MD Anderson apprenticeship program or 9 months completion of the program can be substituted for a maximum of 1 year of experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required: Food Handlers Card within 30 Days
