The Outpatient Clinical Nurse position in the Head and Neck Radiation Oncology clinic at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center provides specialized outpatient nursing care for patients receiving radiation therapy for head and neck cancers. This department delivers coordinated, multidisciplinary care focused on symptom management, treatment education, and continuity of care throughout the radiation oncology treatment course.

POSITION INFORMATION
• Salary Range (Annual): Minimum $68,000 - Midpoint $105,000 - Maximum $142,000
• Hourly Breakdown (40-hour work week): Minimum $32.69 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.27
• Typical Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm (variations of 8-hour shifts), with rotating weekend and late nurse coverage
• Work Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities
Patient Care Management
• Manage and provide comprehensive patient care in the assigned outpatient clinical area
• Assess patient needs using clinical, visual, aural, and analytical skills
• Administer medications, perform procedures, and manage emergencies using appropriate technology
Care Coordination and Collaboration
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary services, patients, and families to plan and evaluate care
• Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services
• Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights
Clinical Practice and Quality
• Integrate age-specific care needs, oncology principles, and institutional standards into practice
• Apply evidence-based practice and integrate research findings to improve outcomes
• Participate in data collection for current clinical studies
Team Leadership and Support
• Organize and prioritize the work of the patient care team
• Train, coach, and assist team members to promote optimal patient care
• Support efficient use of clinical resources

EDUCATION
- Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
