The Transplantation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the bone marrow, stem cell and blood transplantation program for MDACC patients:
- Coordinates patient benefits; ensures financial clearance. Arranges or physically couriers donor products.
- Travels nationally and internationally with little notice to courier, monitor and manipulate donor products to ensure viability.
- Maintains donor and recipient confidentiality. Responsible for collection and submission of charges for search process.
- Educates patients and general public regarding the transplantation/search process.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
MUD
- Performs searches for matched unrelated donors through national/international registries and maintains status reports.
- Also maintains search transfers, CT arrivals and pre-collect samples as needed.
Patient Tracking
- Schedules patient tests, keeps patients/families updated on donor searches and test results, and arranges admissions.
- Collaborates with physicians, department management, data managers and research nurses to complete and document patient care.
Administrative
- Completes all required forms (patient updates, form 22, etc) in a timely manner.
- Also maintains patient/donor correspondence.
- Provides lab packs with courier information to SCT processing lab.
EDUCATION
