Research Assistant II - Nephrology

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. We are seeking an ideal candidate with a strong educational background, including a BS in a relevant scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline. A Master's degree (M.S.) is preferred. The candidate should possess a solid academic track record and a deep understanding of scientific principles, enabling them to contribute effectively to our research objectives.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in planning, executing, and analyzing experiments, with familiarity in a variety of laboratory techniques and instruments.

Strong technical skills are essential, including proficiency in scientific data analysis software, knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, and familiarity with advanced research methodologies and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to adapt to new challenges while maintaining a focus on high-quality results.

Effective communication and collaboration are vital in this role. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, and strong presentation skills to convey complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences.

SUMMARY

The Section of Nephrology emphasizes the training of students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows in the fundamentals of kidney pathobiology to improve the outcomes of patients with chronic and acute kidney disease. A Research Assistant will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments, as well as interpreting and presenting results. The work will contribute directly to our ongoing NIH funded research projects.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

1. Designing and developing research protocols and experimental methodologies.

2. Conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data using state-of-the-art scientific techniques.

2. Communicating research findings internally and externally through various channels.

3. Participating in conferences and scientific meetings to showcase research contributions.

1. Sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and mentoring junior team members.

2. Contributing to the development and improvement of research processes and methodologies.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.

EXPERIENCE: One year experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.
