Postdoctoral Fellow - Genetics (Epithelial Tissue Maintenance, Regeneration and Pathogenesis) - Eisenhoffer
- Requisition #: 144300-202412040908
- Department: Genetics
- Location: Houston, TX
- Posted Date: 11/19/2024
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Genetics under the direct supervision of Dr. Eisenhoffer. The focus of research in the Eisenhoffer lab is to understand the mechanisms regulating epithelial tissue homeostasis, repair after injury, and how disruptions promote pathogenesis and cancer. We use high-resolution microscopy coupled with RNA sequencing and genetic approaches to identify molecular components regulating fundamental epithelial cellular processes such as cell detachment, migration, and proliferation. Trainees are provided with consistent mentorship and access to resources to ensure success. Trainees will have opportunities to present their work at national meetings and attend educational seminars. Collaboration with, and contribution to, other projects in the lab is encouraged.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The individual will learn experimental methods related to the study of pathways involved in epithelial tissue regeneration using zebrafish and reptile model systems. They will work closely with the PI to learn how to write and submit manuscripts, write fellowship and grant applications, and present their work at national and international conferences. The trainee will also participate in professional development activities and collaborative projects.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree with strong research interests.
Qualified individuals will have a background in cell and developmental biology, and expertise in the design and execution of in vivo experiments.
