JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Preferred: Master's Level Degree
Experience Required: Six years of perioperative nursing experience. Two years of management experience in the management of direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Preferred: Ten years of progressive management experience.
Onsite Presence: Is Required, has hybrid opportunity
Certification
Required: Current State of Texas professional nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred: ANCC specialty certification and/or Administration. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.

- Identify stakeholders in perioperative/nursing services and their interactions with the PACU Associate Director role.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, vendors, and other departments supporting the operating room.
- Mentor and support staff, fostering professional growth and succession planning.
- Supervision and Quality Assurance
- Supervise and validate safe clinical practices, adhering to all standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for appropriate clinical actions.
- Validate the knowledge, skills, and conduct of direct reports.
- Quality and Safety Initiatives
- Support and lead departmental initiatives related to quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
- Represent the PACU in institutional committees and projects.
- Monitor PACU quality metrics and promote performance improvement initiatives.
- Attend institutional daily safety briefs.
- Review PACU safety intelligence reports and escalate issues as needed.
- Participate in RCAs and implement action plans to enhance PACU safety practices.
- Project Participation
- Contribute to expansion and design projects as assigned.
