- Posted Date: 3/8/2024
The Bullman Laboratory is in the Department of Immunology, which is chaired by Dr. James P. Allison. The Bullman Lab is an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative team of clinical microbiologists, computational biologists, biochemists, and cancer geneticists. The core mission of our laboratory is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of human cancer, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal cancers, to ultimately extend the lives of cancer patients. Using cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, we endeavor to move smoothly between large human data sets and in vivo and in vitro model systems to gain a deeper functional understanding of the tumor microbiota in cancer progression, metastasis, and response to treatment. The Bullman Laboratory is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in microbial genomics and transcriptomics, cell biology, or preclinical cancer models to join our tumor microbiome efforts. An interest in microbiome research is required but hands-on experience is not required as ample training can be provided.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Our goal is to understand the interaction of the colon cancer microbiota with the tumor microenvironment. This individual will utilize state-of-the-art spatial imaging technologies, single-cell sequencing in addition to genomics and informatics techniques in a highly collaborative, stimulating, and collegial research environment. This position will provide opportunities for professional development and the acquisition of cutting-edge skills in single-cell sequencing, small molecule screens, analysis of clinical specimens, tissue imaging approaches, host-microbiome interactions, research planning and strategy, and data analysis and interpretation.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in biological sciences, cancer biology, computational biology, pathology, microbiology, or a related field.
A record of scientific accomplishment as shown by peer-reviewed publications.
A collaborative, curious, creative, proactive, and organized temperament.
