Postdoctoral Fellow - Fuller Lab

The postdoctoral fellow will execute research projects under the supervision of Dr. Clifton David Fuller, focusing on advancing from mentored research to independent investigation. Research areas include image-guided radiation therapy for head and neck cancers, developing artificial intelligence (AI)-based models for radiation therapy applications, and applying computational approaches to enhance treatment planning in image-guided radiation therapy. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow will work on integrating novel research findings with clinical applications. The role also involves mentoring junior lab members, leading collaborative projects with the research team, clinical staff, and industry partners, and contributing to the development of AI-driven solutions for radiation therapy.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Conduct and advance basic and translational research in quantitative biomedical imaging, imaging biomarkers, image-guided radiotherapy, and adaptive radiotherapy planning.

Develop advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for tumor and normal tissue auto-segmentation, image classification, risk stratification, and treatment outcome predictions to support clinical decision-making, reduce toxicity, enhance treatment planning, and personalized cancer therapy.

Develop and evaluate methodologies for uncertainty quantification in AI applications to promote trustworthy AI implementation and deployment in clinical settings.

Establish workflow for the anonymization of patient DICOM data and set up systems for big data archiving and database management to facilitate data sharing and collaboration with other investigators in the lab and at MDACC.

Support the principal investigator in mentoring research trainees and medical students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Ensures laboratory safety standards are consistently maintained.
