A full-time postdoctoral fellow position in computational cancer genomics is available in Professor Wenyi Wang's lab in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Wang's laboratory research aims to gain new knowledge in the evolution of the human genome and the cancer genome. These two topics are fundamental to the understanding of the initiation, progression, and treatment of human diseases. This position will perform methodological research under her long-standing program in integrative deconvolution and single-cell models to build an atlas of gene expression states of tumor and microenvironment during cancer evolution.
The position will involve a mixture of methodological and collaborative research in cancer genomics. The methodological research may include but is not limited to statistical models for integrative deconvolution and machine learning methods for prognosis and therapeutic biomarker development. The collaborative research may include but is not limited to software tool dissemination, cancer biology discovery, and participation in pan-cancer studies with large research consortia. This position will require writing bioinformatics methodology manuscripts, assisting or leading in writing biomedical manuscripts, developing/maintaining software packages, and other academic activities.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The postdoc trainee will learn to perform a mixture of methodological and collaborative research in cancer genomics and to lead an interdisciplinary research team in future.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, statistics, biostatistics, computer science or a related field. Extensive experience with R and Python, and prior experience in computational biology are required.
