JOB COMPETENCIES

  1. Medication Preparation and Distribution
    1. Accurately and efficiently fill unit dose carts and first doses
    2. Accurately and efficiently pull drugs to refill controlled access cabinets
    3. Accurately and efficiently deliver medications/supplies to designated areas


  1. Sterile Compounding/Preparation
    1. Accurately and efficiently prepare small and large volume parenteral sterile products (non-hazardous and non-investigational)


  1. Inventory Management
    1. Restocking medications/supplies
    2. Complete cycle counts in carousel
    3. Ensure medication security and accountability
    4. Monitors area inventory and supplies, notifies appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages noted.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Two years of college supplemented by courses in pharmacy, laboratory technique or basic science.

License/Certification

Required: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Preferred: Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Experience

Required: None

Preferred: Two years of college supplemented by courses in pharmacy, laboratory technique or basic science.
