JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Sterile Compounding/Preparation a. Accurately and efficiently prepares non-hazardous sterile products
b. Understands and utilizes gravimetric workflow process
c. Utilizes IV preparation software
d. Follows all regulatory guidelines for handwashing and garbing
e. Maintains aseptic technique according to Pharmacy Sterile Product Compounding Standards
f. Ability to work independently
Inventory Management a. Monitors area inventory and supplies, and replenishes as needed
b. Notifies appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages noted
c. Ensures medication security and accountability at all times
d. Monitors for and checks expired products and document waste appropriately
e. Utilizes basic inventory systems (e.g. Pyxis and Pharmogistics)
f. Accurately and efficiently pulls drugs to refill controlled access cabinets and anesthesia stations
g. Completes cycle counts in carousel
h. Orders, receives, repacks, fills and delivers floor stock orders
i. Follows all regulatory guidelines to access patient procedure areas
j. Follows proper procedure to relocate controlled access cabinets
k. Promptly responds to and investigates temperature excursion alerts (i.e. Aeroscout)
l. Follows loan and borrow workflow
Area Maintenance a. Maintains clean and organized work area at all times
b. Ensures anteroom, sterile compounding rooms, and drug storage areas are properly cleaned and stocked
c. Completes assigned QA tasks
d. Properly handles hazardous drug spills
e. Understands and follows downtime procedures
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Technical School
Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration or Pharmacist Intern License with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
Preferred Certification: ACPE Sterile Products Certification.
Experience: None.
Preferred Experience: IV sterile preparation experience and prior pharmacy experience.
