Performs external beam treatment planning and dose calculations for radiation therapy patients' care as well as quality assurance activities and plan/chart reviews.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Competencies Competently performs external beam treatment planning and
dose calculations for safe effective radiation treatment delivery. Demonstrates accurate
and timely patient e-chart processing, calculations, chart checks and supporting quality
assurance activities. Maintains & demonstrates knowledge on all the latest guidelines,
policies and procedures specific to medical dosimetry including but not limited to, basic
competencies, skill specific competencies, and institutional and departmental policies.
Critical Thinking Skills The intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully
conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information
gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or
communication as a guide to action in daily clinical activities. Ability to identify and
proactively anticipate challenges and plan for changes by providing input or generating
new ideas and solutions. Demonstrates ability to solve complex problems through
creative critical thinking skills with minimal supervision from other team members.
Education and mentoring Understands the role and promotes teamwork in serving as a
resource and mentor. Exhibits competence in applying effective mentoring practices
through demonstrations and/or presentations. Uses caring, knowledge and discovery to
support mentee through identifying needs and advocating when/where appropriate so the

Education
Required: Graduate of hospital or college affiliated medical dosimetry school with clinical and classroom curriculum for duration of one year. May substitute for required education with three years of current medical dosimetry experience.
Certification/Licensure
Required: Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) within four years of job entry.
