Grant Program Manager

Provide strategic support for the development, implementation, and evaluation of cancer prevention research training program and research initiatives. Perform as an experienced administrator to assist planning, directing, and fostering new interdisciplinary initiatives in research education and training; support conduct of research of significant scientific value to evaluate training and cancer prevention initiatives; help coordinate all aspects of preparation of grant applications & progress reports, journal publications, and presentations to all levels of academic and professional audiences

Research/Grant Administration and Management

* Provides comprehensive administrative planning and management for pre-award and post-award grant initiatives for the department including large-scale multi-project grants. Communicates and negotiates, at all levels, regarding decisions around the grant process.

* Interacts with granting agencies to obtain information on the future funding opportunities and acts as resource to faculty regarding granting opportunities relevant to their research programs. Assists investigators in the preparation of grant budgets and budget justifications. Ensures that administrative staff has all appropriate grant forms and regulatory requirements pertaining each grant submission.

* Communicates with the Office of Research Administration, Grants and Contracts Accounting, and funding agency regarding grant preparation/submission. Communicates with personnel at other institutions regarding deadlines, budgets and other requirements for collaborative grants. Reviews grant applications prior to submission to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

* Works with Grants and Contracts Accounting, NIH, and other agencies in assisting in the transfer of existing grants from the former institution, or other requirements for sub-contracts as necessary.

* Performs budget analyses and budget revisions. Facilitates the establishment of new chart-field strings as required by grant activities; communicates these activities to project leaders.

* Supports administrative planning as requested for training grant and contracts submission initiatives

* Engage in the submission/review process by performing a quality check on all grants and contracts submissions (against sponsor instructions) to ensure formatting, budgeting and other components are accurate following established departmental procedures.

* Update relevant departmental records and reports as needed following established departmental procedures.

Financial Management

* Conceptualizes, designs, creates and implements systems, procedures and reports for financial budgeting and expenditures.

* Maintains financial spreadsheets and performs financial forecasts and analysis.

* Performs expense verification and reconciles financial transactions associated with personnel and operational expenditures.

* Provides resolution of financial events such expense transfers, disputes, reallocations, tracking revenue, invoicing, clearing of deficits, and close-outs.

* Manages and assures financial reviews through meetings with division, department, faculty and institutional stakeholders.

* Serves as delegate authorizer or signer for expenditures, as designated.

* Resolves level specific financial problems and concerns.

* Ensure reconciliation efforts are in alignment with MDA/Division policy

Support Strategic planning and ongoing program administration

* Participate in strategic planning for CPRTP regarding training program, financial sustainability, grant funding, educational curriculum development in cancer prevention and control, professional development activities

* Develops and implements strategies for funding, enhancing internal and external collaboration approaches.

* Develops and coordinates educational and scientific activities which foster new agreements and opportunities, enhancing existing and new relationships with external stakeholders

* Represent CPRTP as collaborator in variety of settings including on committees (institutional and otherwise), at professional membership societies, and EW, to increase visibility and impact of CPRTP

* Identifies risks, facilitates mitigation strategies, flagging issues for needed adjustments

* Helps recruit, interview, and hire new staff and contributes to evaluation of staff

* Organizes team building and staff retreats and training as needed.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of grant management experience such as grant writing, grant submission and financial administration and one year of lead or supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one year basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
