Deputy Division Head Clinical Research, Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine

The Division seeks a highly accomplished, inspirational, and collaborative investigator or physician-scientist to serve as its next Deputy Division Head, Clinical Research. This leader holds overarching responsibility for the strategy and oversight of the Division's clinical science mission. Fundamentally, this role will accelerate the work of the already-thriving faculty and position them for continued long-term success.

The Deputy Head will join a Division with tremendous momentum and the highest aspirations. MD Anderson and the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine are home to a distinguished faculty engaged in groundbreaking research and professional practice that crosses disciplinary and subspecialty boundaries. Opportunities abound-the Division seeks to grow research in key areas such as multi-center clinical trials, pain management, opioid research, inflammation, and peri-operative clinical research.

Leading a team of coordinators and a statistician-and working in close coordination with the Chairs and Deputy Chairs of Research in each department-the Deputy Head will reinforce a culture of excellence, innovation, and experimentation. They will also oversee resource allocation and space administration, as well as build out and integrate clinical research infrastructure. Importantly, they will also play an instrumental role in mentoring faculty, fellows, and residents. A visible, high-impact leader, the Deputy Director will thrive in the personal interaction and relationship-building with faculty, administration, and trainees within the Cancer Center. Strong communication skills are required, as is a can-do ethos to realize a vision for science.

As further highlighted below, this critical position requires a dynamic, passionate, and experienced research leader with a proven track record across the spectrum of individual scholarship and collaborative research leadership.
