Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Investigational Drugs

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Leads IDS and Divisional Initiatives for Research Leads and actively participates in Investigational Pharmacy Service initiatives involving education, clinical research, professional development, and performance improvement.

Investigational Pharmacy Drug management Provides verbal or written information on investigational drugs to pharmacists, nurses, physicians, patients, and outside callers.
• Prepares investigational drug data sheets on new investigational drugs.
• Updates existing drug data sheets when new information is available.
• Consults with sponsor regarding handling, preparation, and administration of investigational drugs.

IDS Operational Coordination Supports Investigational Pharmacy Services operations, to include:
• IPS Policies and Procedures (review and update),
• Information about patients treated on clinical protocols,
• Drug accountability information per protocol to sponsors
,Attends (at the request of the Manager, Investigational Pharmacy Services) and contributes to a variety of institutional meetings (i.e. CRC, IRB) involved with the development and evaluation of clinical protocols and investigational drugs. Contributes pharmaceutical, technical, and clinical input to the development of clinical protocols as requested.
Effectively provides guidance and mentorship to the Specialty Technicians and the designated teams

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Pharm.D degree.

Preferred Education: Doctorate (Professional)

Certification: All of the following:
Texas State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist license within 90 days of job entry.

Preferred Certification: ASHP PGY 1 Residency

Experience: Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY 1) and Residency in the area of specialization (PGY 2). Experience as a clinical pharmacist in the area of specialization may substitute for the required residency on a one to one basis.
Preferred Experience: Oncology Specialty Residency or Drug Information Specialty Residency
