Architectural Services Manager

Ideal candidate will have eight years of architectural experience beyond receipt of degree with minimum three years of healthcare or research design experience. Four years managing architectural design and construction document production teams.

SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Manager, Architect Services position in (FPDC) Facilities Planning, Design and Construction is to manage professional staff in the delivery of architectural and engineering services for remodeling, renovation, new construction, and equipment replacement projects. The Managing Architect oversees the development of construction drawings, specifications and other instruments of service in compliance with all codes, institutional standards, and regulatory requirements governing the practice of architecture. In addition to team staff management the managing architect leads in a project architect role in development of design concepts, construction document detailing and specifications.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Supervises Personnel Supervise personnel in the production of the business unit's products and services with the use of specialized computer applications. Makes hiring recommendations for staff positions. Conduct performance evaluations and manages personnel issues. Completes appropriate performance reviews and recommends on promotions, salary, and other personnel matters. Establishes goals, determines resource requirements, and allocates resources to assist staff in completing annual goals. Creates and implements departmental, divisional, or institutional goals.

Budget/Timelines Monitors man-hour expenditures against budgeted man-hours to measure staff performance. Monitors design phase milestone schedules against actual completion dates to measure staff and personnel performance. Refines and improves design processes for continuous quality improvements.

Supervise available resources to provide professional architectural services. Supervises all available resources required to provide (in-house) professional architectural and engineering services for remodeling, renovation, new construction, and equipment replacement projects. Complies with applicable building codes, MD Anderson Owner Design Guidelines and other regulatory requirements governing professional design services including use of personal professional seal.

Provides professional architectural services for projects not assigned to team personnel. Managing architect may be assigned work in the project architect role to develop design concepts, construction drawings, specifications, construction administration and other instruments of service in compliance with all codes, institutional standards, and regulatory requirements governing the practice of architecture.

Provides management in implementation of AutoCAD Revit application towards full utilization on all projects by the team in compliance with institutional CADD and BIM standards. [Job Specific 5 Description]

Provides assistance to Facilities Planning Design and Construction project management staff in delivery of rapid response projects. Work includes design documentation and construction administration tasks.

Participate as a subject-matter-expert in review, revision and development of Owner Design Guidelines. [Job Specific 7 Description]

Required: Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Seven years of architectural experience beyond receipt of degree with three years of healthcare or research design experience. Must obtain an Architect license issued by the State of Texas within 180 days of date of entry into job.

Preferred: Eight years of architectural experience beyond receipt of degree with minimum three years of healthcare or research design experience. Four years managing architectural design and construction document production teams. Valid Texas architectural registration certificate Or must have a valid architectural registration from another state and qualifies for reciprocity to obtain a Texas architectural registration certificate within 90 days of date of entry into job.
