Advanced Practice Provider - Lymphoma / Myeloma (3pm-11pm)

SUMMARY

Primary responsibility will be to provide care for outpatient cellular therapy patients.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Conduct and document patient assessments (review of medical history, performance of physical exam, evaluation of diagnostic imaging, labs) on cell therapy patients.

Perform appropriate medical interventions as necessary (writing admission orders, ordering labs, imaging, etc.)

Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent patient issues.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with health care team (MD, Nursing, Pharmacists, Stem Cell Lab, cell coordinators, research teams, EC, consulting teams).

Communicate plan of care/pertinent medical information to outside physicians as appropriate through letters/phone calls.

Coordinate outpatient cell infusions.

Educate patient/families regarding treatment plan, recognition of side effects and action to take

Provide psychological support to patients/families.

Order appropriate patient follow-up appointments (labs, imaging, clinic visits, consults, etc)

Conduct telephonic management of patients as needed.

Participate in team/departmental meetings and quality improvement projects.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred:

At least 1 year of experience in Advanced Practice Provider role.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Required:

Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.

Preferred:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
