Accountant III - Facilities Finance

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Accountant III position is to assist the institution by providing accurate and timely project cost information. This is accomplished by providing skilled accounting experience and progressive administrative leadership in the daily management of project cost accounting.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESProcess and Review Project Costs: Review, approve, and process UT System CIP, non-CIP, PUF, and FEMA-related project cost items including purchase requisitions, change orders, invoices, statements of services rendered, applications for payment, and internal budget adjustments to ensure compliance with established procedures, regulations, and vendor contract terms.

Project Reconciliations: Performs monthly project cost reconciliations to ensure accuracy between MDACC general ledger and project accounting sub-ledger ledger (Timberline). Reconcile, analyze, and resolve problems that arise. Propose solutions to issues or process improvement ideas.

Project Cost Reporting: Collects appropriate and necessary project cost data using the construction accounting sub-ledger (Timberline), PeopleSoft, OBIEE, MS Access databases, and Excel spreadsheets to analyze data and prepare, or participate in the preparation of, project cost reporting. This includes reporting for Permanent University Funding (PUF) sources.

FEMA Project Reporting/Salary Capitalization Reporting: Participate in the establishment of FEMA expense projects for declared disaster events including the submission of FEMA Requests for Public Assistance projects. Tracking and reporting of disaster-related expenses and providing ongoing reporting as needed by Institution, State, and Federal requirements. Participate in the establishment and continuation of Salary Capitalization reporting and analytics for designated CIP and non-CIP projects. Tracking and reporting of salary capitalization expenses and providing ongoing reporting and analytics as needed by Institution and Division Management.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field. Three years accountant experience with a Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field. Two years of accountant experience with a Bachelor's in Accounting.
