Courier Services supports the safe, timely transport of clinical and non-clinical materials across the MD Anderson campus and to partner institutions throughout the Greater Houston area. The department operates with a team of seven Transportation Representatives (including one Senior Transportation Representative) to manage a high-volume, dynamic delivery environment.
The Transportation Representative plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of patient care by prioritizing and executing the pickup and delivery of sensitive items, including time-critical "Stat" requests. With an increasing clinical workload and a growing number of urgent deliveries, this role requires flexibility, strong time-management skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Transportation Representatives may be reassigned from scheduled routes to respond to urgent requests, ensuring items are delivered promptly to prevent deterioration or spoilage.
This position contributes directly to operational efficiency, patient safety, and service excellence by maintaining reliable delivery performance in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

- logistics experience a plus
- knowledge of the Medical Center a plus
- knowledge of the Greater Houston Area a plus
The work schedule is 7am-4pm.
The salary range is $37,450 - $42,725 - $48,000

SUMMARY
The purpose of the Transportation Representative--Courier position is delivery of materials, including sensitive and confidential documents and/or laboratory specimens throughout the institution and to offsite locations. Could work rotating shifts based on departmental needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Package Pickup & Delivery
- Operates institutional vehicles from Courier Services base of operations to and from pickup and delivery locations in accordance with institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
- Transports a variety of packages, supplies, mail, clinical laboratory specimens and/or equipment throughout the medical center campus and to offsite locations.
- Utilizes package moving equipment as well as industry-related software programs and devices to pickup and deliver packages.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment in good working order.
- Adheres to all institutional and departmental safety guidelines relating to operation of institutional vehicles and package pickup and delivery. - Ensures pickup and delivery signatures are collected as needed.
- Communicates with courier dispatch and management to ensure effective and efficient pickup and delivery of packages.
- Trains new employees on package pickup and delivery procedures as needed.
- Performs routine administrative functions, such as completing vehicle usage and other reports.
Time Management
- Adheres to a time-critical operating schedule, maintaining appropriate logs and records of pickup and delivery times.
- Immediately communicates with courier dispatch when encountering unforeseen problems that may impact scheduled timing of package pickup and delivery.
- Frequently refreshes hand-held device containing individual pickup and delivery tasks and timing, ensuring each task is completed in a safe and timely manner.
Customer Service
- Interacts with customers during pickup and delivery of packages with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
- Documents customer comments/problems and refers them to management for follow up.
- Answers customer questions as able, and provides directions and information to patients and visitors as needed.

EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: Two years Relevant work experience and ability to drive golf carts, three-ton van or other vehicles as required.
- Preferred: Experience in a retail, office or related service industry
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: TDL - Texas Drivers License Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried. Upon Hire and
