Research Intern - Cancer Survivorship

A Research Intern position is available in the department of Cancer Survivorship. Cancer Survivorship's goal is to address the outcomes of cancer and its therapy, and to improve cancer survivors' health and quality of life through integrated programs in patient care, research, prevention and education. This role will support the education and outreach efforts of the Office of Cancer Survivorship, highlighting the importance of policy and partnerships to improve the outcomes of cancer survivors.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Stakeholder Informed Research
Assess gaps in cancer survivorship care by engaging survivors, caregivers, community advocates, and providers to identify barriers to care integration, follow up, and affordability. Assess internal and external resources available to cancer survivors and recommend best practices for referral pathways.
2. Policy and Agreement Development
Draft an institutional agreement and/or policy proposal to improve comprehensive survivorship care planning, access, and affordability, with consideration for Medicaid and Medicare populations.
3. Program Administration Exposure
Gain experience in survivorship program operations by observing and supporting multidisciplinary initiatives (e.g., survivorship programs and ECHO style models) and shadowing relevant professionals
