Rehabilitation Therapy Technician

The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides skilled technical assistance to the Licensed Physical Therapist and supports patients in regaining mobility and improving quality of life. Cancer and its treatments can sometimes have lasting effects on physical function, and rehabilitation plays a vital role in recovery.

The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma, and at least one year of experience as a physical/occupational therapy aide, a rehabilitation technician or one year of related healthcare experience. The candidate must also be available to work a 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday. One weekend day per month may be required, with a flex day during the week.

The Department of Rehabilitation Services has more than 100 oncology rehabilitation professionals and staff dedicated to optimizing the physical abilities and quality of life of people affected by cancer. Rehabilitation Services offers physical therapy and occupational therapy for patients of all ages and with any type of cancer who are experiencing problems related to cancer or the side effects of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment. Rehabilitation services are available to all MD Anderson patients who need help regaining physical function.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $18.26 | Midpoint $22.84 | Maximum $27.40

Essential Job Functions
• Provides assistance to the rehabilitation staff to maintain the equipment and patient care area as well as performs selected tasks and procedures under the guidance of a licensed therapist.
• Impacts rehabilitation services and patient care procedures.
• Assists therapist in a variety of routine and daily functions and transports patients to and from treatment areas.
• Performs assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks for treatment area and equipment.
• Provides all assigned and required documentation for patient schedules and equipment maintenance.
• Tracks and enters data related to equipment and inventory.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required: One year experience as a physical/occupational therapy aide, a rehabilitation technician or one year of related healthcare experience. With Bachelor's degree in a related field, no experience required.
