The Department of Interventional Radiology at MD Anderson Cancer Center is recruiting a radiology-trained physician for a postdoctoral fellowship for a multi-year research program led by Dr. Bruno Odisio (Interventional Radiology). The aim is to build a continuously updating "digital twin" for patients with colorectal liver metastases. Through the 'Breakthrough' grant, the fellow will anchor the IR component of the digital twin, bringing clinical imaging expertise to ablation, Y90, and liver resection, and SBRT outcome modeling and its prospective evaluation. Mentored by Drs. Iwan Paolucci and Bruno Odisio, the fellow will work alongside data scientists and physicists with a large, curated registry.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The fellow will serve as the clinical imaging lead for the interventional radiology component, working with an extensive transdisciplinary team to develop and prospectively evaluate outcome-prediction models. Activities include: (1) expert review of pre-, intra-, and post-procedural CT/MRI, including tumor and treatment-zone segmentations, quantitative assessment, and standardized characterization of local, intrahepatic, and extrahepatic progression; (2) clinical curation of the ablation registry and harmonization of imaging, procedural, and outcome variables to project's data dictionary; (3) co-development and clinical validation of ablation-specific prediction models, including interpretation of model outputs, failure-mode review, and calibration against clinician expectations; and (4) support of the prospective clinician-in-the-loop evaluation in the MD Anderson liver tumor board. Expected outcomes are hands-on training in imaging biomarker science, applied machine learning, and clinical prediction-model validation; first-author publications and national presentations; clinical shadowing in interventional oncology and tumor board; and mentored preparation of independent fellowship or career-development grant applications.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have completed an MD (or equivalent) and residency training in radiology or an equivalent structured training program in diagnostic or interventional radiology, with special consideration given to those trained in body imaging. Foreign-trained radiologists are welcome; U.S. board certification is not required.
Demonstrated experience in cross-sectional abdominal imaging is required, and training in liver tumor imaging is highly preferred. A strong interest in quantitative imaging and AI-based outcome prediction is essential. Prior programming or data science experience is helpful but not required, as computational training is provided through the fellowship.
Candidates should also have a strong interest in translational research and working within a highly productive, collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
This position is supported by institutional funds. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is not required; however, candidates must be eligible for U.S. work authorization.

MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
