Summary:

The Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology within the Division of Cancer Medicine is seeking a full-time Clinical Faculty member. Faculty rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Candidates must have expertise in medical oncology, with a focus on the clinical care of patients with genitourinary (GU) malignancies.

This faculty member will report to the Chair of the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology and will contribute to the department's clinical, translational, and research efforts aimed at advancing the prevention, treatment, and cure of GU cancers.

Successful candidates are expected to actively engage in clinical, translational, and/or laboratory-based research, as well as other scholarly activities. Applicants should demonstrate the potential to develop innovative research programs that are competitive for peer-reviewed funding, produce high-impact publications, and foster multidisciplinary collaboration. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to develop creative research approaches in genitourinary oncology, and the capacity to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.

Clinical responsibilities for this position will be primarily based at UT MD Anderson The Woodlands location. The Woodlands township is located 28 miles north of Houston. At UT MD Anderson The Woodlands, patients in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe and communities north of Houston have access to top-ranked, comprehensive cancer care close to home.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
  • Practice clinical medicine in accordance with the standards established by the Texas Medical Board and relevant specialty organizations, while maintaining an appropriate balance between clinical and academic responsibilities.
  • Provide physician coverage for the Genitourinary Medical Oncology clinic including comprehensive patient care, obtaining detailed medical histories, performing physical examinations, and conducting procedures appropriate to the physician's area of specialization.
  • Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activities that support and advance the department's academic mission.
  • Develop and lead clinical research initiatives aligned with the department's strategic goals.
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of medical fellows and residents rotating through the department.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional teaching activities, conferences, and continuing medical education programs.
  • Represent the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology at local, regional, state, national, and international professional activities related to genitourinary oncology.

Required Qualifications
  • M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Medical Oncology.
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Texas.
