Seeking and experienced Medical Assistant to join one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

The ideal candidate brings at least one year of MA experience, hands-on procedure experience, and the ability to stay adaptable in a fast paced clinical setting. They excel in high volume workflows, maintain strong patient care standards, and hold MA certification-preferred but not required. The schedule will be Monday - Friday / 8 hour days.

The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to act as a lead assistant in preparing patients for Melanoma Surgery, Melanoma Medical & Dermatology, appointments and assisting with procedures. Medical Assistants perform direct patient care in a dynamic, high-volume environment. There is involvement in all technical aspects of dermatological procedures to ensure continuity of care and maximum efficiency of the area. Consistently demonstrates appropriate knowledge of basic procedural supplies specific to Melanoma & Dermatology.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Assists Staff:
• Responsibilities include completion of routine patient care assignments. as delegated.
• Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.
• Various administrative duties as delegated by the clinical team and/or nursing leadership.
Assists Patients:
• Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming, and vital signs on all patients registered in clinic.
• Reports to RN/MLP/MD any vital sign falling outside of normal parameters.
• Observe for any unusual signs/symptoms that may need attention prior to appointment and reports to RN/MLP/MD appropriately.
• Records height, weight, oxygen saturation, and presence of pain on progress note.
• Assist with any procedures, or administrative tasks, under RN supervision.
Work Environment:
• Maintains environment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
• Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment.
• Ensures area of patient responsibility is filled out prior to rooming patient.
• Checks expiration dates of all dated supplies and discard or return per institutional guidelines.
• Maintain processing rooms, including sterile processing, High Level Disinfection, quality control, logs, etc.
Equipment Usage & Safety Preparedness:
• Maintains expectations for safety preparedness, including but not limited to: Orientation to new equipment, Employee Education Event, CPR training, fire drills.
Effective Communication:
• Escalates significant events and concerns regarding patients and their care to appropriate nursing staff.
• Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• Removes and documents voice mail as delegated by the RN/Nurse Manager.
• Assist in the reception area as needed, answers telephones, recording information on appropriate note and distribute to appropriate staff.

EDUCATION
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent and
- Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program including externship/practicum. or
- Preferred: Graduate of a U.S. Military medical services training program.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 1 year Medical Assistant experience. or
- Required: No experience required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (including externship/practicum) or U.S. Military medical training.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire and
- Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Assistant American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Upon Hire or
