Cytotechnologist - Missouri City - Days

Be part of MD Anderson's expansion into Missouri City as a Cytotechnologist, helping support accurate and timely diagnoses for patients receiving care at one of the world's leading cancer centers. You'll apply your specialized knowledge of cytology to evaluate patient specimens, support diagnostic services, and contribute to the quality and accuracy of laboratory testing as MD Anderson brings its expertise to a new location.

What's in it for you? This opportunity combines advanced technical work with the chance to contribute to a growing clinical environment. You'll evaluate non-gynecologic and fine needle aspiration (FNA) preparations microscopically, assist with FNA sample procurement and triage, and perform specialized procedures such as cell block preparation, cell transfer, and density gradient preparation for lymphoma marker studies. You'll also work with specialized stains used to identify cellular tissues and pathogens in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens, while maintaining proficiency in established procedures and troubleshooting laboratory challenges.

You'll play an important role in maintaining diagnostic quality and laboratory standards. From accessioning and processing specimens to documenting diagnoses in the pathology database, monitoring specimen integrity, and completing quality control and quality assurance activities, your attention to detail will help support reliable results. You'll also participate in interlaboratory slide reviews, process improvement initiatives, and special projects, with opportunities to contribute to the development of future cytology professionals through microscopy seminars and presentations. The position also includes participation in designated Main Campus rotations, including on-call coverage for after-hours STAT specimens and procedures requiring immediate assessment.
