The primary purpose of the College Student, Strategic Communications position (part-time) is to learn about healthcare strategic communications and support UT MD Anderson's internal communications through development of content for the UT MD Anderson's workforce, its intranet and other channels.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Digital internal Content Development/Writing: Under the direction and supervision of Strategic Communications professionals, develops internal news articles for UT MD Anderson's intranet. Incorporates learnings related to best practices, organizational style,
digital accessibility, measurement, etc.
2. Communications Presentation: Identify a topic for an independent communications research project or competitive analysis and complete a presentation summarizing findings. Project may be self-originated or assigned, based on agreement with supervisor.
3. Other duties as assigned. Attends some business meetings and may accompany Strategic Communications professionals and assist on photography or video shoots.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must be located in the Houston area
Must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university working toward a degree in communications, journalism, public relations, broadcast or a related field.
POSITION INFORMATION
Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
