Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Pain Management Center

Maintaining patients' comfort and quality of life is a top priority at UT MD Anderson. The Pain Management Center plays a major role in this effort. Our multidisciplinary team includes specialists from anesthesiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, Emergency Medicine, neurology, and other fields who work together to find the best care for each patient.

Clinical Nurse, Outpatient opportunity in the Pain Management Clinic. The preferred candidate will be a high performer with the ability to demonstrate initiative, high-level critical thinking, and professionalism.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Depending on the needs of the department, the nurse will be required to occasionally stay late to finish the clinic.

Salary Range
Annual: $68,000 minimum - $105,200 midpoint - $142,500 maximum
Hourly breakdown: minimum $32.69 - midpoint $50.58 - maximum $68.51

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to positively affect patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting evidence-based direct patient care across the continuum of care for patients. The highest quality of patient care and the appropriate use of resources are achieved in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Structural Empowerment: The Clinical Nurse engages in problem-solving in order to meet unit goals and achieve desired outcomes.

Exemplary Professional Practice and Empirical Outcomes: Exemplary Professional Practice: The Clinical Nurse applies exceptional professional practice in relationship with patients, families, and the inter-professional team, and understands how new knowledge and evidence is applied.

Service Orientation: Provide service to our customers, including patients, patient caregivers, referring physicians and each other, in a reliable, responsive, safe, friendly and courteous manner.

EDUCATION
Required: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).
Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification, Certification in specialty practice.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: None.
Preferred: Two years of relevant nursing experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
