The Advanced Practice Provider role supports these efforts through direct patient care, clinical coordination, and research participation.
UT MD Anderson offers an opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider to work in a specialized oncology environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes. The Advanced Practice Provider collaborates closely with physicians, research staff, and multidisciplinary teams while contributing to patient care, clinical operations, and research initiatives. The Advanced Practice Provider plays an important role in supporting both ambulatory and inpatient oncology services.
The ideal candidate will have oncology experience and the ability to work effectively in a complex academic medical environment. Preferred education, experience, and licensure requirements were not fully provided; therefore, candidates should possess the qualifications necessary to perform advanced clinical patient care, research-related responsibilities, and collaborative oncology practice activities.
Salary: $117,500 - $146,500 - $176,500
The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities
Clinical Patient Care
• Attend clinics with physicians
• Conduct preliminary assessments of new and follow-up clinic patients
• Dictate clinic progress notes, patient medical evaluations, and consultation notes
• Write admission notes and orders for hospitalized patients
• Write outpatient orders for chemotherapy, intravenous fluids, transfusions, growth factors, and related treatments
• Assist with clinic-related documentation and administrative activities
• Screen patient telephone calls and escalate to physicians when appropriate
• Evaluate clinic and Emergency Center walk-in patients
• Assume responsibility for clinic patients during physician absences as directed
• Assist with inpatient care activities when needed
Research Support
• Screen patients for eligibility for clinical trials
• Obtain charts and imaging records needed for clinical trial analysis
• Assist with preparation of chemotherapy orders for clinical trial participants
• Assess patients for protocol eligibility and provide patient education
• Assist research nurses in identifying patients who may benefit from protocol registration
• Explain protocol treatment options and treatment plans to patients
Patient Assessment & Clinical Documentation
• Evaluate patients and perform physical examinations
• Review patient charts and histories before physician evaluation
• Present patient histories and physical examination findings to attending physicians
• Write clinical information and notes for physician review and documentation
• Assist with ongoing patient management and care coordination activities
Records & Administrative Operations
• File, sort, distribute, and copy pertinent documentation
• Handle technical and confidential materials appropriately
• Prepare reports and presentation materials
• Dictate referral correspondence to referring physicians using institutional dictation systems
• Collect patient charts from Medical Records
• Coordinate services across departments to support projects and patient care initiatives
Collaboration & Department Support
• Attend departmental meetings related to patient care
• Work with alternate physicians during attending physician absences as directed
• Take initiative in decision-making that supports departmental goals
• Compose written correspondence using relevant clinical and operational information
• Organize and communicate information effectively to appropriate stakeholders
• Perform additional patient care, clinic operations, and administrative duties as assigned
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse:
EDUCATION
Required:
Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
At least 1 year of experience in Advanced Practice Provider role.
Prior Oncology experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP).
