The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I position is to coordinate, design, and carry out cancer research projects while following standard operating procedures for the laboratory.
An ideal candidate is a detail oriented Research Assistant with hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, western blotting), leukemic cell and hybridoma tissue culture, and antibody production, who can independently execute cancer research projects, rigorously document and report data to the PI, and consistently adhere to laboratory SOPs while maintaining an organized, compliant lab environment.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Experiments and Projects
* Performs basic molecular biology techniques in manipulating DNA and RNA.
* Performs tissue culture for leukemic cell lines and hybridoma cells.
* Complete a wide range of experimental procedures, including PCR, western blotting and cloning for different projects in the lab.
Laboratory Function
* Conduct multiple PCR or other bench techniques as necessary.
* Execute hybridoma culturing, antibody production and purification.
* Document and assess data obtained per the requested methods and report the findings to the PI.
Laboratory Maintenance
* Maintains a clean and organized work area in the laboratory and TC room to ensure efficient operation.
* Adheres to written instructions and operations manuals.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science.
Preferred: Degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Immunology
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None
Preferred: Experience with DNA and RNA manipulation techniques (cloning, western blotting, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR), tissue culture of leukemic, solid tumor, and hybridoma cell lines, proficiency in in vivo animal procedures (genotyping, tumor inoculation, drug administration, and IVIS imaging), and, ideally, prior experience with antibody production and purification.
