The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow is to assist the Principal Investigator and other Faculty members with scientific research projects. The primary activity of this position is academic research in association with a faculty member or team. A position is available immediately in the area of cancer immunology and translational research. The laboratory seeks to study therapy induced immune suppression and test drugs that can restore immunity and enhance immune responses with cancer therapies and translate those findings to the clinic in ongoing clinical trials. We are interested in studying immunologic mechanisms that confer response through various drugs that can act in tissue or bone marrow using various in vitro and in vivo tumor models.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1.) Perform technical laboratory duties, techniques, in vivo and in vitro experiments studying immune biology in the context of cytotoxic cancer therapies and response to treatments including immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
2.) Projects will include using mouse tumor models to assess immunologic effects of cancer therapy induced immune suppression on tumor biology and drugs or cytokines that could reverse this effect in tumor bearing animals; small animal image-guided radiotherapy; tissue harvesting and microscopy; in vivo and ex vivo immunological assays; single cell sequencing methods and/or single cell cytokine analysis; implementation/development of novel protocols and procedures; execution of experiments; analysis of results.
3.) Familiarity with histology, animal husbandry, in vivo surgical techniques, immune and proteomic or transcriptomic assays is preferred. Ideal candidates would possess experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal models of human cancer.
4.) Training and supervising other research personnel on techniques and equipment procedures
