The Ambulatory High-Level Disinfectant & Reprocessing Technician performs essential reprocessing activities that ensure instruments and equipment are safe, clean, and ready for patient care in ambulatory clinical settings. The Ambulatory High-Level Disinfectant & Reprocessing Technician is responsible for performing duties across all areas of High-Level Disinfectant reprocessing, after which HLD standards and practices are consistently applied to support clinical operations. The Ambulatory High-Level Disinfectant & Reprocessing Technician plays a vital role in maintaining compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate for the Ambulatory High-Level Disinfectant & Reprocessing Technician role has experience in HLD and sterile processing within a healthcare environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and consistently follows manufacturer instructions and departmental guidelines. Knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, and flexible scopes, along with the ability to troubleshoot and work independently during a mid-shift schedule, supports success in this role.

Pay: Minimum $20.67 - Midpoint $25.96 - Maximum $31.25 per hour based on a 40-hour work week
Shift: 12pm - 8pm

Responsibilities
• Perform duties and troubleshooting in all areas of High-Level Disinfectant reprocessing and sterile processing
• Sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect a variety of instrumentation, equipment, and flexible scopes
• Assemble, protect, wrap, peel pack, and label instruments for clinical use
• Label instruments accurately for use in clinic settings
• Identify and inspect instruments for cleanliness, integrity, and proper functionality
• Select appropriate sterilization methods based on instrument type and intended use
• Comply with manufacturer recommendations and departmental guidelines at all times

EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of experience performing sterile processing and high-level disinfection in ambulatory surgery, procedure, or hospital environment. No experience with preferred education.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Required: One of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
