Sr Research Dietitian - Epidemiology, Metabolic Kitchen

The Sr. Research Dietitian will oversee the daily operations and staff of the Bionutrition Research Core (BRC) and research kitchen. Provides the support and expertise to conduct controlled dietary interventions and other nutrition research.

Works directly with clinical and research faculty/Principal Investigators to design and assure Bionutrition Research Core (BRC) protocols and procedures. Works directly with research study participants and patients.


Operations management:
* Manages the operations of the Bionutrition Research Core, including promoting and tracking the BRC's mission and services. Oversees the development and administration of study diets/menus for controlled feeding protocols. Manages administrative tasks related to the BRC and nutrition research training program.

Personnel management:
* Responsible for supervising kitchen staff, nutrition research support staff and interns. Works directly with food production technicians to monitor the quality and safety of food products. S/he will train and manage food production technicians and assistants and share the responsibility of food and supply inventory and purchase. Provides leadership, mentorship, and staff training to meet research objectives.

Research and Project Management:
* Coordinates and manages a range of nutrition research projects, including controlled feeding, nutrition education and dietary assessment. Conducts nutrition counseling and education with study patients and participants. Oversees and/or conducts dietary data coding and analysis. Responsible for preparing documentation and written reports for the BRC. Develops study or training materials, checklists, and assessments for nutrition-related projects. Assists with generating protocol and manuscript text and budgets for BRC investigators. Evaluates and utilizes appropriate methodology and skills to design nutritional studies and obtain dietary data. Stays abreast of current nutrition research related to program needs.
Required: Bachelor's degree and completion of an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved dietetic internship or its equivalent.

Required: Five years of experience in an acute care setting, in a tertiary or acute care teaching/research facility. With preferred degree or advanced certification, three years of required experience.
Preferred: Experience in a Metabolic Kitchen.

Current Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Current Licensed Dietitian (LD) with Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians.
