Senior Threat and Risk Analyst, UTPD

The Senior Threat and Risk Analyst with the University of Texas Police Department at Houston (UTP-H) is responsible for researching and analyzing data to reduce threats and criminal risks to the institution. Researches, analyzes, and reports on data from various sources related to threat/risk incidents and investigations. Identifies trends and develops strategies to increase safety to the institution. Works with the Behavioral Intervention Teams to provide case management of complex incidents. Assists with outreach efforts to educate on behavioral patterns and trends. Ensures information management procedures comply with federal, state, and institutional policies.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Research and Analysis
  • Researches, analyzes, and reports on data from various sources related to threat/risk incidents, investigations and background checks.
  • Monitors social media risk based watch lists and other data sources and makes recommendations to mitigate risk and increase campus safety.
  • Identifies trends and develops risk mitigation actions and strategies.


Teamwork
  • Works with other Threat & Risk Protections Analysts to provide analysis and solutions to threat/risk incidents.
  • Assists with outreach efforts to educate on behavioral patterns and trends.


Compliance
  • Ensures information management procedures comply with federal, state, and institutional policies.


Other Duties as Assigned

Other duties to include, but not limited to:
  • Emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus.
  • Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree.

Experience

Required: Seven years of experience in risk evaluation and analysis, threat assessments and analysis, law enforcement, general case investigations, behavioral intervention analysis, crisis management, security systems, or conflict resolution.

May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience.

With preferred degree, five years experience in risk evaluation and analysis, threat assessments and analysis, law enforcement, general case investigations, behavioral intervention analysis, crisis management, security systems, or conflict resolution.

License/Certification

Required: Valid Class C Texas driver's license.
